Prada in Print

Just been having a browse on the Vouge website and came across this article from april 2010

'SPRING into summer clad in Prada. The fashion house has launched a beautiful new range - entitled the Print Collection - in which you can snap up one of its exceedingly pretty dresses for under £500.
Comprising nipped-in-at-the-waist dresses, dainty ballerina pumps and chain-strap handbags, the collection has been inspired by one single outfit from the Fifties, recreated in a series of different fabrics - from cottons to silks - which h'ave been referenced from the Prada archives. Think painterly splashes and blossoming blooms.

Colour Pallet

We had a choice of images to select from the use as a colour pallet. I chose, 'Fire in the Evening' by Paul Klee. after researching it, i found out it was inspired by Egypt, which relates to my insects as some of them are from africa.

My Insect Photographs

For my primary research for my current module i went to the Discovery Museam and went into the underground stores the see the massive collection of insects. I choose insects because i think they have decorative potential for interior surface designs because they come in all sorts of shapes and colours, looking different from each other yet will sit together nicely on a design.

Timorous Beasties RORSCHACH Collection

This collection caught my eye firstly because of the bright colours and textures within the designs, but i think that the textures give an 'insecty' look. Also the shapes which are mirrored remind me of insects as they are also somewhat symmetrical. The shapes these have created represent bugs. I also like the contrast of big areas of colour and skinny lines within designs. The colours are not particularly typical of insects, but this fits in with my concept of 'discord'

Timorous Beasties Civic Bee

I have been doing some market research that links with my theme of insects. Timorous Beasties has a selection of wallcoverings which display bugs. This design from the  Hornbrook collection caught my eye as the bee is not overpowering but is see the focal point of the design. I also like how it comes in a range of colours, i like them all because i can imagine them working well if different places.
