The TRENDS Industry Collezioni Trends

'The most complete magazine in its sector, a rich source of information on fabrics, yarns and accessories. All the trends, atmospheres, colours and lines over a year in advance. Reportage from international trade fairs.'http://www.logos.info/en/riviste/collezioni-trends-magazine/

I have been looking at Collezioni Trends for Summer 2014 and i took an interest in the mixture of subtle and vivid colours, along with monochrome in the trend of 'Retro Summer Looks'. Also, floral hand painted designs in am'60s range of colours' drapes lovely on the chosen fabric.

The TRENDS Industry View

I like how View has selected a colour pallet, and gathered a range of corresponding materials, with diverse textures, patterns and (what looks like) durability. Some appear fragile and delicate whilst other tough and coarse.

Laura Ashley Christmas Gifts

This New Laura Ashley section caught my eye in boots today. This is the 'christmas' collection of gifts... doesn't look very christmasy to me!
Sticking to the traditional florals instead.

The TRENDS Industry Trend Bible

Trend Bible
'Home is at the heart of everything we do. Because we centre all of our efforts on the home, we develop in-depth insight into how householders engage with technology, food, healthcare products and their environment. How people live and what they use becomes the foundation for our projections of up to five years.
We have a deep understanding of family life, for adults and children, and how the home will have to perform to meet their future needs.
Whilst we look at a broad range of industries to track and monitor innovation, we don't believe it makes much sense to try and forecast trends for everyone. We're experts in our field, and providing this specialist service makes our experience very rich. We dedicate our whole team, all of the time, to scrutinising and understanding the home environment and how this will evolve.'

Home Trends: Autumn Winter 2013/14

'In this post we reflect on past forecasts and share a detailed overview of our Autumn Winter 2013/14 Home and Interior Trends for those of you who work closer to the season. This forecast was published back in 2011, over two years ahead of the season.'

Submerged

'This story takes inspiration from the natural world living deep beneath the surface of our seas. Focusing on organic, natural constructions, this story explores sub-acquatic plants and creatures, immersed and submerged in a surreal world. Design explores and mimics delicate constructions, microscopic frills, folds entwining roots and tendrils.
This story explores a mix of glossy and opaque surfaces, raw slate and exposed concrete. Folded neoprene, constructed ruffles and chunky knits imitate the complexity found in aquatic plant structures. Submerged embraces a simplified and stripped back print direction, celebrating a new, fresh minimalistic outlook. Examining textures found in dispersing ink, rough powdery coral, ariel views of marshland and waterscapes is important. Gradiated colour and biological contours combined with flowing organic stripes set a new tone for surface pattern.'

I like this neutral colour pallet in contrast to what i am usually interested in; bright colours. . Also the images selected have texture and depth which makes it look more interesting

Spring/Summer 13 Key Looks

The key print & pattern on the spring/summer 2014
 womenswear catwalks.

A garden of roses are blooming for next summer, tapping into the new mood for all things
romantic and overtly feminine. Full-blown chintz flowerheads were worked on white or
pastel grounds, but look out for recoloured effects and pretty pastel blue ground colours
for a juniors interpretation of the trend for unexpected items such as the biker jacket.

i have chose these images as they reflect what i am studying; surface design. These are
all responding to roses yet are all diverse.

BALTIC

I'm thinking of going for a trip down the Quayside to visit the Baltic gallery as i have been looking on the website and the current exhibition on Thomas Scheibitz looks good for researching/inspiration for form and composition.

'ONE-Time Pad

26 JULY 2013 - 3 NOVEMBER 2013

Thomas Scheibitz is one of the leading German artists of his generation. This large-scale presentation of Scheibitz’s work retraces the conceptual and painterly development of his career with a particular focus on the human figure and the existence of form between figuration and abstraction. The exhibition brings together over two hundred works from the past five years including painting, sculpture, drawing and works on paper. It also includes an archive of the artist’s source material and models, and a new sculptural work commissioned especially for BALTIC'

Osborne & Little

I like the bright summery colours used within these designs because i love to use bright colours within my work too!
I like how the outline of the motif is slightly off from the blocks of colour in this pattern.

Edith Head

I came across this image on the Google homepage and it fits right in with my idea for what i want to draw this week (Porcelain Dolls). I think a motif like this could create a nice wallpaper design.

This is an example of what i will be drawing. (own photo)
